Holiday Season ECommerce
The holidays are an amazing time of the year. As evidenced by the consumer phenomenon of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, consumer spending picks up and it is a great time for business. Families and friends get together, people are giving, donating and interacting in charitable ways. It is always exciting to witness and experience the energy, good will and craziness.
Although I don’t get to spend a lot of time doing it, gift shopping is such a fun holiday activity to me, especially now that I’ve got children. The anticipation of the joy that a gift will bring your child is a great feeling. As my life has gotten busier and busier, I’ve grown more and more grateful for companies that sell online. My wife and I just purchased a gift for our newborn and it was as simple as a click.
From a consumer’s point of view, here are a few tips for providing good ECommerce experiences during the holidays:
- Remind people that you’re there, but don’t be spammy. I get emails from Dick’s Sporting Goods about holiday gift ideas. There are a few things that I’m considering and it’s good to be reminded that they’re there. What I like, is that each email has value and are timed well so that they don’t look spammy.
- Provide unique specials for people shopping online. Making people feel like they have something unique and something which gives them advantages over going into a store will motivate purchases online.
- Make them look professional. There are good software providers that help you develop and use professional and clean emails to send to your clients. Use them.
To all ECommerce providers: good luck this holiday season.
